2010 Spey Clave

10/2/2010

A good time was had by all at the Clearwater Spey Gathering, here are some photos. I was able to visit with old friends and made some new ones as well. Very successful show. A special thank you to Poppy and Mrs. Red Shed for inviting me over.  Many of my prints are available at The Red Shed Fly Shop.Show Display at Peck Idaho

I did not get to sit down for most of the day. So many folks stopped by

to visit and the fish and flies were the highlite, especially the Skagit Mist Scratchbord. Skagit Mist, Tied by Rockey Maely Designed by Dec Hogan

Mr Ward 2009 winner of the raffle Last years winner of the drawing was here and I was so glad to hear he has the painting hung above his fly tying table and looks at it every day. Mr. Ward is from California. This years winner was not present at the end of the Clave, but is a local resident from Idaho. I hope to get pictures soon. The painting that was entered in this years raffle was the painting I did of an Alex Jackson Spayed style, no wing or tail.  I appreciate the simplicity of this fly and it has a very simple beauty since it is tied on an AJ  gold heavy wire hook.  A tight crop shown here.

I came home with orders and many new friends who are following my work. Thanks to everyone who dropped by and said hello. Especially to Rock Maley, the world’s premier classic salmon and steelhead fly tiers and his daughter CheyAnne. Truly an honor to visit with him and his family.
