I am very proud today to know that\u00a0 my piece Gold Speal Spey was a featured work\u00a0 in two categories or groups on Fine Art America over the last few days. The art work was chosen as a feature piece in both groups, Fish Artists and Feathers Artists.\u00a0 A link to both locations is provided below.<\/p>\n

This was one of the original sixteen flies found described in Knox, A. E. Autumns on the Spey. The original recipe called for bronze mallard flank, a back and breast feather from a heron, and tail feathers from a river spey cock. \u00a0 A very well revered book written that described the fishing life and techniques of Spey Fishing along the River Spey, as well as other hunting adventures of that era.<\/p>\n

This work was hand painted on 100 % Pure Silk, with steam Set Dyes using the same technique above. The original is still available for purchase, you may contact the artist.<\/p>\n

I an happy to announce the work entitled “The Catch”<\/a>\"Jims<\/a><\/p>\n

was also a feature on Fine Art America in the group Fish Artists. My hand painted work on silk is the primary focus of my art. I have not been so turned on by painting until I started in this medium. There is not feeling comparable to what I get when I hear the brushes whooshing across the silk as I apply the dyes.\u00a0 This painting was inspired by a close friend of mine who was talking to me online one day a few months ago and said he had been afraid to ask me to paint a fish he was proud of because he knew I was so busy. I laughed and told him send me the pictures and I will take a look at it. Well, he had failed to tell me it was a fish his son had caught on a trip they had taken together one summer. How cool is that, way to go dad!<\/p>\n
